Vaibhav Suryavanshi Just Hit 103 Off 37 Balls and IPL 2026 Has a New Problem Called Genius

Vaibhav Suryavanshi walked out at Sawai Mansingh Stadium on April 25 and turned Sunrisers Hyderabad's bowling attack into starting practice. Five sixes off the first six balls. A fifty in 15 balls. A hundred in 36. By the time he was done, Rajasthan Royals had 228 on the board and the record books had a new owner at fifteen years old.

Bhai, fifteen-year-olds are not supposed to do this.

Suryavanshi reached his century off just 36 balls, the third-fastest hundred in IPL history behind Chris Gayle's 30-ball blitz and his own 35-ball century against Gujarat Titans last season. He finished on 103 off 37, striking at 278, with 12 sixes and 5 fours before Sakib Hussain trapped him lbw attempting a reverse lap.

The dismissal barely mattered by then. Royals had already posted their highest total at the venue, helped along by Dhruv Jurel's 51 and a late cameo from Donovan Ferreira.

The Records Vaibhav Suryavanshi Broke in One Innings

Start with the big one. Suryavanshi entered the match on 955 T20 runs and crossed 1000 mid-innings, becoming the youngest player in the format's history to do it at 15 years and 29 days. He also got there in just 473 balls faced, the fastest by that measure, beating Mitchell Owen's 533.

Yaar, that stat alone should be the headline.

This was also his fourth T20 century in only 26 matches, the quickest anyone has reached four hundreds in the format. He is now the sixth player to score multiple IPL centuries for Rajasthan Royals. His 12 sixes are also the most an Indian has ever hit in a single IPL innings, one more than his own 11-six knock against Gujarat Titans last year. Bhai, he also became the fastest to 50 career IPL sixes, needing just 15 innings and beating Chris Gayle's old mark by six innings.

Why the Injury Scare Overshadowed the Innings

None of it mattered for long. Fielding at covers a few overs later, Suryavanshi sprinted for a catch off Ishan Kishan's bat, pulled up clutching his right thigh, and had to be helped off by the team physio.

Yaar, that is some jhol right there, a career-best knock turning into a fitness scare inside twenty minutes.

RR's batting coach Vikram Rathour played it down afterward, saying it looked like cramps rather than a hamstring pull and that Suryavanshi was already responding to treatment. Nothing was confirmed as serious, but for a player who has broken this many records this young, every scan gets extra attention.

It also explains why this innings is being talked about differently than his other big scores. Suryavanshi already held the record for the fastest IPL century by an Indian, from a 35-ball hundred against Gujarat Titans in 2025.
