Ask five different trade sites who India's second highest grossing film is and you might get three different answers. Dhurandhar 2 just exposed why that question was always rigged.

Ranveer Singh's spy thriller has crossed Rs 1,790 crore worldwide and quietly passed Baahubali 2's decade-old benchmark, bina China, bina Gulf release. But the more interesting story is not the number, it is how fragile that number always was. Baahubali 2 held No. 2 for ten years partly because of where it released, not just how good it was.

It is also the closing chapter of the Dhurandhar duology that began in 2025, built on trust from one film to the next, not one single opening weekend.

Dhurandhar 2's Real Box Office Numbers

As Variety reported, the film ranks second highest grossing Indian film ever, behind only Dangal. India gross sits above Rs 1,362 crore, overseas adds Rs 426 crore, aur yaar, none of that leaned on a Gulf release the way most big Hindi films quietly do.

No China. No Gulf. Still No. 2, on merit alone.

Variety's own tracking confirmed the worldwide run overtook Baahubali 2's benchmark, a number the trade press had quietly stopped expecting anyone to touch this soon. Records do not fall by accident.

BookMyShow backs this up too, nearly 15 million tickets sold on the platform within the first couple of weeks, outpacing most other big 2026 releases by a wide margin.

Sarkar approved blockbuster status, basically, and it did not need one country to fake the scale.

Rankings built on one country are not real rankings.
