Bhai, India just got its AAA cricket game. LightFury Games has closed an eleven million dollar Pre Series A round, and the cheque signers are not random VCs chasing a trend. MS Dhoni signed. Jasprit Bumrah signed. Hardik Pandya signed too, alongside Shreyas Iyer, Ravindra Jadeja, Tilak Varma and Sai Sudharsan, and all seven cricketers will show up as playable avatars inside the actual game, not just logos on a press release.

Yeh koi normal funding round nahi hai.

The Bengaluru based studio is building eCricket on Unreal Engine 5, chasing the kind of physics driven realism that mobile cricket games in India have never actually delivered. Think broadcast style presentation, AI led commentary that reacts to the live match state, and a licensed roster of over 600 professional cricketers, real players, real faces, not generic avatars wearing random jersey numbers and playing like robots on a cheap pitch.

Why This AAA Cricket Game Actually Matters

Indian mobile gaming has spent a decade making cricket clones. Real Cricket, WCC, all genuinely fun, all mobile first, all limited hard by budget and engine choice, because nobody wanted to bet real money on a cricket game with console level ambition. eCricket is the first serious attempt at cricket with actual AAA scale, backed by people who have played the sport at the highest level and know exactly what a lazy cover drive animation looks like, yaar.

Dekha jayega kitna accurate hota hai, but the ambition is real, and so is the money.

According to Business Standard, matlab the round was led by Blume Ventures, V3 Ventures, MIXI and Times Internet, with the cricketers joining as strategic investors rather than passive names sitting quietly on a cap table. That distinction matters more than most people think, because a strategic investor usually shows up for review sessions, not just the term sheet signing ceremony.

LightFury is a hundred people strong yaar, founded by Karan Shroff, Tina Balachandran and Anurag Banerjee, and building from India for a genuinely global audience rather than a domestic one alone. Mobile launch is expected later this year, with PC and console versions planned to follow if the mobile numbers actually hold up in the real world.

Bhai, this is not happening in a vacuum either. Hitwicket just crossed 20 million dollars for its own cricket management game, and between the two rounds, Indian gaming finally has cricket money chasing cricket ideas at a scale that used to exist only for fantasy sports apps like Dream11 and My11Circle.

The Bet Behind eCricket's 600 Cricketers

Six hundred licensed cricketers is not a marketing number, it is basically the entire product pitch. Every domestic player, every state team regular, every face you have half watched at a Ranji Trophy match on a random Sunday gets a digital twin in this game. That is the kind of licensing depth that usually only exists for the senior men in blue yaar, not the whole domestic pool sitting underneath them.

Full-on scale hai, matlab yeh koi chhota project bilkul nahi hai.

5 Indian gaming startups have already shown what desi studios can build on shoestring budgets and jugaad energy, and LightFury is now testing what happens when the budget stops being the actual constraint. That is the real experiment sitting underneath all this cricketer money, more than the game itself, sach mein.

Can eCricket Beat the Console Cricket Games?

The comparison everyone will reach for is Cricket 24 or the old EA Sports Cricket games, both built for consoles that most Indian gamers simply do not own and are not planning to buy anytime soon. eCricket is mobile first by design, which means it has to be good enough to matter on a mid range Android phone running patchy 4G, not just a flagship device sitting on fast wifi in a demo booth.

Mobile first mein AAA quality laana easy nahi hai, sach mein.

So here is the real question worth asking. Do you actually want a hyper realistic cricket game on your phone with proper physics and licensed faces, or were you completely fine with Real Cricket's arcade chaos and unrealistic sixes all along? Tum kis camp mein ho, sach batao.

Ek baat toh pakki hai, cricket aur gaming ab officially ek hi team mein khel rahe hain. Kaunsa app pehle open karoge, naya eCricket ya abhi wala purana favourite?
